CHICAGO - April 2, 2009 - Hyatt Hotels & Resorts announced its Hyatt Regency brand debuted in Russia today with the opening of the 296-room Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg. Situated in Russia’s fourth largest city (formerly known as Yekaterinburg) and the capital of the Ural region, the hotel is the second Hyatt property in the country following Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow. Additional Hyatt development plans in Russia include Grand Hyatt Moscow Residences & Spa, the first phase of which will open this year with 18 exclusive residences for long term rental, a Hyatt Pure spa and a signature restaurant.“Russia, with its enormous landmass and expanding population, remains a major growth market for Hyatt, and we are very proud to be the first five-star hotel operators in the Ural region. Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg beautifully represents the juxtaposition of contemporary style and old world charm. We are delighted to add it to our global portfolio of truly amazing business hotels in city-centre locations," said Gebhard Rainer, managing director, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts – Europe, Africa, Middle East.
Design
Located in the rapidly developing financial center of the city on the bank of the Iset River and across from Drama Theatre, Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg has been designed by the renowned Parisian architecture firm Valode & Pistre. In keeping with the Hyatt Regency emphasis on authenticity, the 20-story hotel reflects the city’s flavor and culture in the design of its common areas and the 296 generously sized deluxe rooms and suites.
Guestrooms
Geared towards the comfort and needs of the global business traveler, all guestrooms, including 56 suites, are equipped with wireless Internet access and ergonomic working areas. Along with breathtaking views of the Cathedral-on-the-Blood and the Iset River, many guestrooms of Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg feature an open bathroom concept, complete with under-floor heating, deep soaking baths and exceptional rain showers. .

The 631 rooms in this Five Star posterchild of the Grand Hyatt family are situated between two towers overlooking the Huangpu River from a coveted locale along the north Bund. No surprise then that the rooms yield either impressive riverfront views topped by the Pudong skyline, or of the stunning colonial buildings on the Bund. The spacious rooms are equipped with fine features such as marble baths. Everything within the hotel—from the amenities to the restaurants, bars, spa and gym—meet the highest standards of elegance and service.
Grand Hyatt Guangzhou will be the fourth Grand Hyatt hotel in mainland China, following Grand Hyatt hotels in Beijing and Shanghai. From the moment a visitor steps through its theatrical threshold, there is very little about the new Grand Hyatt Guangzhou that does not pique the visual sense. A huge slab of sandstone forms one wall and is set with warmly illuminated windows; a wall of glass looks out over a park, a green oasis in this neighbourhood; and an indoor bamboo garden is strikingly intersected by a glass bridge above it. It is not merely hype when the renowned California-based architect responsible for the hotel, Peter Remedios, calls his latest project, scheduled to open in spring 2008, "an architectural tour de force".
Situated in Guangzhou's new central business district of Tianhe – whose English name is Pearl River New Town – Grand Hyatt Guangzhou is located in one wing of a brand new streamlined twin-tower building. The hotel's understated façade contains cutting-edge new architectural features and interior design devised by Remedios, who has won accolades for his work on Grand Hyatt Tokyo, among other hotel projects. This is the first international hotel in Guangzhou to feature a "sky lobby" located 22 floors up; like many other areas in the hotel, it offers expansive views across the Pearl River and Tianhe CBD.
Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg offers multiple food and beverage options with two restaurants, a lounge, and two bars. The hotel’s three-meal restaurant, Cucina, features an open kitchen with a wood-burning oven and charcoal grill with an emphasis on modern Mediterranean cuisine prepared with the freshest products cooked to perfection. Noble House, the concept restaurant of Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg, offers exquisite Asian cuisine, with recipes originating from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Bali. Contemporary design and intimate lighting underscore the cozy ambience of this upscale venue. A dedicated team of skilled, well-trained chefs prepares authentic Asian dishes using steamers, woks and charcoal grills to ensure that traditional cooking methods are respected. At the heart of the hotel in the lobby is the T.Lounge, which allows visitors to become a part of the buzz of an international urban hotel. The lounge serves European and Russian specialties, along with a unique selection of perfectly blended cocktails, premium coffees and teas.
While there’s plenty to explore in this massive city, you might also be tempted to take off to a host of destinations accessible through the neighboring Shanghai International Cruise Terminal. The hotel is well positioned for visitors new to the area, offering an easy segue into what can be a shockingly foreign land. You won’t receive the most authentic Shanghainese experience staying here, as the environment and staff surpass the reality of just about every local’s lifestyle. But then again, that’s what all the fuss (and price) is about.
In addition to these features, the spacious Regency Suites, with stylish Art Deco interiors and modern amenities, include large closets and extra wardrobe space, as well as access to the Regency Club. This haven of luxury features a mix of dining tables, plush sofas and lounge chairs, all facing the majestic fireplace.Boudoir, the modern wine bar, will become the ideal place to meet at the end of the day to enjoy a fine wine or vintage champagne in a trendy atmosphere.
