Starwood Hotels has confirmed that its newest brand, ELEMENT hotels, will require all of its developments to pursue LEED certification from the USGBC. ELEMENT'S key green features include daylighting, energy-efficient appliances and water-efficient faucets. The first of such properties is scheduled to open this July in Lexington, Massachusetts.



Regular readers may remember that I urged marketers to get into Second Life back in September, or risk losing the PR value, which I thought would disappear within six months. I also reported a growing backlash in November.

Brand new places to unwind for a vacation are coming up in Avon, Colorado. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc has announced their new projects: The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa and The Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas. The Spa will be a 235-room full service hotel and resort facility and is currently under construction. The Westin Riverfront Mountain Villas is a 113-unit Westin vacation ownership resort being developed by Starwood Vacation Ownership. Both are coming up to offer guest the ultimate vacation.
