Crock-Pot Lasagne--Yeah! You heard it right!

Hi everyone. I have to admit that this one sounds crazy. I was not a believer at first either. But it turns out that you can actually make a delicious lasagna in your crock-pot. It's also relatively easy compared to the standard lasagna.

I can't take credit for this one completely. We got this from a magazine called Real Simple and thought it sounded too interesting to pass up. I do, however, take credit for being brave enough to try it! It was well worth the 10 minute prep and 3 1/2 hour wait time!

Here is how it is done:





Ingredients
2 10 oz packages of frozen spinach (chopped)
1 cup of ricotta cheese
3/4 cups of grated Parmesan cheese
3 cups of grated mozzarella cheese
6-7 regular lasagna noodles
1 jar of your favorite Marinara sauce

Directions
1. Thaw and drain excess water from spinach
2. In a bowl, mix together the spinach, ricotta, and Parmesan cheese
3. In a second bowl, mix together the marinara and 1/2 cup of water
4. Spread 3/4 cup of the marinara mixture on the bottom of your crock-pot.
5. Top with two noodles (you have to break them to fit), 3/4 cup of the remaining marinara mixture, half of the spinach mixture, and 1/2 cup of the mozzarella.
6. Repeat step 5.
7. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
8. Cover and cook on low for 3 1/2 to 4 hours until noodles are cooked.

Enjoy! This is so easy and very delicious. I dare you to try it!

Space Invaders Infinity Gene review

Space Invaders is a pretty old vimeo game. It's one of those games that it's cool to tell people you like it. Sort of like how people will talk about how they love to play Pac-Man or how the best vimeo game ever is Galaga. They're okay games I guess, if you like to ignore every single better game that has come out since then - which these people probably do. Either that or these people just like these games for the cooldude points they get from talking to other people who know even less about vimeo games than they do. I hardly ever play these games, and I bet the people who claim they love them have played them even less than I have. I don't feel like reviewing the original Space Invaders from 1978, so here's a review of a new version of it I played on PS3 that was released recently:

At first this game is like Space Invaders. You get a spaceship that can only move left and right, and it sucks at shooting. And then the game changes and becomes completely different as you keep playing, giving you things like super rapid fire, the ability to move everywhere on the screen, and different weapons to choose from before starting a stage. The game will tell you some quote about evolving and adapting while it does this. I guess you're supposed to adapt to Space Invaders becoming not Space Invaders. The original Space Invaders had an interesting thing going on with the destructible barriers between you and the aliens, and how you're going to automatically lose if you don't make sure to kill all the bad guys, but this game is all tons of bad guy formations flying around all over the place while you whale on them.

There are wire frame graphics everywhere in this game. It looks kind of boring. In addition to the standard alien enemies, there's a bunch of random shapes that fly around for you to shoot at. All your favorites are here, such as star, hexagon, the other hexagon with two lines in it, large wireframe battleships with rectangles inside of them, and I think I even saw octadecahedrons.

I quickly found the real reason to play this game: the Music Mode. What the game does is take a music file you pick from the hard drive, and then construct a stage based on that file while it plays that music as the stage music. I had a lot of fun playing music from other spaceship shooting games and pretending to myself that I was playing a better spaceship shooting game instead of Space Invaders Infinity Gene. Also fun is playing music that is totally inappropriate for a spaceship shooting game, like Lady Gaga music. I guess that you could just instead play any other spaceship shooting game with the music volume set at zero and have something playing on your laptop though, and it'd be better. This game only lets you have one song per music stage and do one music stage at a time, so when the boss appears, it just loops the song from the beginning again. I've never felt the need to change a game's music something else though. Games's normal music always suits them just fine, unless I'm making a youtube video of me playing the game. Then I would have to replace the normal music with Korn.

Happy Pyon Pyon Year

That's how the Japanese describe rabbit to little children. Pyon pyon... while saying that, I remembered imitating the rabbit jump.

My sister is a pyon pyon, a mommy pyon now. The last time I saw her, she was having a tummy with a 5-month Tung Tung inside. This is already Tung Tung 2nd year celebrating Chinese New Year, and I've never met her in real life yet. One thing for sure, she looks so much like the 50% daddy and 50% mommy.

I received a surprising Ang Pow from my boss. So nice to be still receiving Ang Pow though my status is now shifted to the one that should give out Ang Pows.

Called mom and dad on the 2nd day of CNY. I didn't get to talk to as many friends as previous years. Not even my pyon pyon sis. Now I am wondering should I still call and say CNY to those unscratched names on my list.

Six more days, and the rabbit celebration will be over. But I think the rabbit year has been very nice to me. Except that it is making me sick and putting on weight. I'm not complaining though.

Happy Chinese New Year.

I know this is not sounding like a CNY post at all. Maybe I am just feeling a bit sentimental now.

Saturday 19th March: Beginner’s hands-on Gardening Course
A practical workshop on how to start your vegetable garden. This workshop will involve digging, sowing, planting, making beds, composting. It is aimed at the complete novices to vegetable gardening.


Saturday 30th April: Your Self-Sufficient Garden
Learn how to grow nearly all the food your family eats. Learn how to set up, prepare and plant your own organic vegetable garden. Practical demonstrations will be carried out so all participants get hands on ideas for their own gardens.

Saturday 14th May: Growing in Polytunnels/Greenhouses
A polytunnel or glasshouse extends the season for many crops, providing something to harvest all year round. It can also be used for tender vegetable crops, cut herbs and unusual tropical plants. This course will cover ground preparation, crop rotation, propagation, soil fertility management, pest and disease prevention and control.


Saturday 18th June: Grow Your Own Vegetables and Fruit
This course will take you through the season from garden to larder. Learn of the wide variety which you can grow on your doorstep. This will cover crop rotations, sowing plans and learn how it is possible to grow any vegetable and fruit that takes your fancy.
